My Little Cael-Bug

Chet used to be a little wanderer! He would always leave the house and never tell him mom where he was going. It was a constant battle to keep track of him. His mom tried all kinds of little things to keep in the house, but he always seemed to not care about any of it. I used to love listening to the stories, thinking they were cute. Then, when I realized it was genetic, they were not so cute anymore! They are absolutely, downright scary!!!
Last summer Chet was fixing some things around the house and decided to go to Sutherlands, next to Wal-Mart, about 3 blocks aways. He let me know he was going, and quickly left. Soon after he had left, I called to the boys and asked where Cael was, 20 mo old at the time. They told me he was digging in the dirt, something he did about 5 hrs a day. I go on with what I am doing. Minutes later Chet comes home and tells me that he picked Cael up half way to Wal-Mart. Talk about scary. He saw Chet leave and followed him. My boys told me what I wanted to hear so that they didn't have to stop what they were doing. Luckily I knew he was safe before I ever even knew he was in danger! Two neighbors shortly thereafter brought him home as well. We notice he's not there, and we instantly go to the door and start looking. Long stories short, they haven't stopped. We have found him several times in the craziest of places. Lots of tears have flown wonderin where that boy has gone!!! He's just so quick. I feel a whole new pain for my mother-in-law almost daily it seems! I got an alarm system, mostly because everytime a door or window open it says really loud, "front door" or whatever window or door it was. I go running the second I hear that! So glad he's safe! He is not allowed to step a foot outside without an adult. Hopefully he doesn't pass this gene on!!!

  1. I told mom about this post, she wanted me to pass on a quote she heard when Chet was on his mission - You may know where you are, God may know where you are. But if Mama doesn't know where you are, you and God better be on good terms.
