Caden's Golden Birthday

(Pictures added later)

While Chet and I were dating, I had my golden birthday. He made a huge deal of it, so this is all his fault. Caden turned 7 on the 7th, so the only right thing to do was to spoil him ROTTEN!!! Chet was going to be gone on the 7th, so we had to celebrate on Saturday. I get a sitter on Fridays so that I can take my older boys out without the babies. (We hit the library, and go get sodas at the gas station, and eat at a picnic, all things we have a hard time doing with babies!) So this Friday we went to the store to have him pick all his presents. It was so fun walking around Walmart. We went from art supplies (markers, crayons, etc) to sporting goods, to hunting stuff, to toys, and everything in between. He showed me EVERYTHING he wanted. For date night that night Chet and I went and basically bought it all! We decided to do 7 "gift sets". I have so many pictures and don't know how to get them off my phone. We, well the air compressor did, blew up about 100-150 balloons to fill the area where he walks up from his bedroom. We hung a huge banner across the walkway that said Happy Birthday. We wrapped all of his "sets" in different paper. They were 1)guns 2)hunting(a real bow) 3)bike 4)art 5)water party 6)remote controls 7)balls. We got him every gun Walmart had (not really but maybe 5). We got him about 30 art supplies, all individually wrapped and a box to hold it all in. Water balloons, 3 remote conrolled things, and on and on. It was really fun. It was fun to imagine his excitement as we LOADED the cart. He jumped from set to set, unwrapping like crazy (we wrapped everything by itself, so he had maybe 20 presents plus all his art supplies of about 30 things) He is so sincere and kind and loving that it was fun to watch. Everything is such a huge deal to him, that he was just radiating happiness! Then we made Schwann's sausage and waffles, his choice. Then he played with all his toys before we headed to lunch to his favorite restaurant. He ordered what he wanted and milked the birthday boy thing, asking everyone if the birthday boy could have a try of theirs. As we walked in the Mexican Restaurant, they were singing to someone in Spanish for their birthday. He looked at me and said NO! So no singing! Then we gave him the choice to either go to the county fair or go rent a Wii Game and buy lots of candy to eat. He chose the Wii game (they are very restricted on how much they can play, and we NEVER rent games so this was HUGE to him) Chet took him and said he would have filled the cart. Chet kept having to put some food back. He is such a junk gut! Then we watched a family movie, Big Miracle I think it was. He was on cloud 9!  Tuesday for his real birthday we went swimming at the city pool, had a water fight with all the neighborhood. I filled 250 water balloons, and they were gone in about 10 min total. A lot of work, but a ton of fun! He had tacos for dinner. Then all the boys and I watched Huckleberry Finn on my bed. They kept asking why we were watching a movie about pioneers, but they couldn't take their eyes off it. They loved it. Caden was really touched to learn about Martin Luther King this year in school and didn't understand why "dark skinned people" had different rules. This movie was interesting to him and to see "slaves" It made him cry to see people as slaves and someone being beat. He is so thoughtful and sincere. It really hurt him to know that someone could live in a house where their dad really hit them. He really wanted to bare his testimony and so they have to practice to the family. He wanted to say that he was really happy he had only one more year until he could be baptized. I thought that was cute! I asked him if he felt any older and he said he did. He said that he really felt like he was 7 now. Too cute. I just love that kid!!! He is so different from all the others in so many ways. He has a special place in my heart! His love is contagious. He tells me about 10 times a day, coupled with a hug, that he loves me. Oooo, and how I love him! We are so lucky to have him in our family!
